Learning region

Business region Amersfoort continuously improves the quality of its labour supply and other issues for sustainable economic development
  • Citizens are being motivated and facilitated to assess and improve their skills (life-long learning):
    • regular assessment of competencies (via company, school or public employment service)
    • certifying “proven” competencies
    • transparancy of competencies via an individual E-portfolio;
    • special vocational trainingmodules on-demand : learning by doing !
    • are being invited and stimulated to volunteer (hands and brains) in public assistance (e.g. social work, policy-advice, projects);
  • Companies offer their employees development opportunities; they support competencies assessment and certification; they describe their jobs in terms of competencies and take care for E-portfolio supply; “investors in people”;
  • Companies offer possibilities for terms of probation for trainees (from vocational schools as well as jobseekers);
  • Companies offer in-service training and / or merry-go-roundtraining together with businesspark-colleagues;
  • Companies co-operate on the improvement of pre-competitive conditions
  • Companies pro-actively participate in the regional policymaking process
  • Companies focus on sustainability;
  • The local government organization(s) perform (s) like private companies in this respect; and eventually give the example;

  • (Vocational) schools are continuously looking for close co-operation with companies and organize (part) of their programmes “on the spot”;
  • Vocational schools offer “training on demand” eventually in public-private-partnership;
  • (Vocational) schools offer “distance learning”;

  • Local governments facilitate networking between stakeholders;
  • Local governments facilitate dissemination of knowledge;
  • Local governments take care for modern infrastructure, e.g.glassfiber cabels,modern (multifunctional and flexible) businessparks;
  • Local governments actively involve companies and citizens in decisionmaking and executing tasks and projects in the public realm;
  • Local governments measure the performance towards the learning capacity of the region;

The Charter and the Charterteam: companies, institutions and citizens are invited to join the Business region Charter.
The promotion of the above mentioned policies is being executed by a special project team, closely connected with the 1-stop entreprises “square” and the 1-stop labour supply “square”.

Networking is the main characteristic of the way the actors in Business region Amersfoort are working together.
